I saw a child "green" list name recently that consisted of names from nature as Skye, storm, River and so on, and it seemed to me that such a list is missing the mark. These are the names of "nature"-a cool category names for children, but not "green" in the sense of the modern environmental movement.

One of the best ways to go green is to choose a name for a child from one of the pioneers of the environmental movement-real on behalf of a child after a great environmentalists who made such important contributions to our knowledge of our world. in their day, could have been derided as curiosity, heckled as "Tree-huggers" and generally marginalized. Today, looking back, we can see that were true visionaries.

Thirdly, David Brower is a name familiar to anyone interested in the history of environmentalism. Brower, who lived from 1912 to 2000, was an environmentalist activist who believed in organizing people. Founded the friends of the Earth, the League of conservation voters and other environmental organisations.

Fourthly, for boys, the name of John Muir would do an exceptional combination of first and middle names.Muir, (1838-1914), was a towering figure of American environmentalism.He was a salesman Sanguineti, who founded the Sierra Club and his writings are preserved today as fundamental texts of environmental awareness.

Secondly, Jane Goodall, born 1934, he made his name almost synonymous with preservation. an anthropologist English and primatologist, Goodall is famous for its permanent study of chimpanzees in Tanzania and internationally recognized for his work on the protection of primates and their habitats.

Thirdly, Dian Fossey, 1932-1985, is another environmental hero, and unfortunately one that he gave his life for the cause has grown.Expert on gorillas and one American zoologist, a conservative ardent, Fossey was brutally killed at a unsolved murder to his cabin mufumbiro Rwanda, where she had dedicated his life to the study and conservation of mountain Gorillas.

Fourthly, even in Africa, works Wangari Maathai.Born in 1940, Maathai was the founder of Kenya's Green Belt Movement, active in combating deforestation in Kenya. Was the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize 2004 for his environmental activism.

Finally, back in the United States, a world away from Africa, but driven by a similar passion, Lois Gibbs. was born in 1951, Gibbs became an activist pioneer against dumping toxic, stimulated by the famous love channel dumping in Niagara Falls, New York. Gibbs was the founder of Love Canal Homeowners Association, who fought the dumping of hazardous waste in Niagara Falls. his work helped established "Superfund of America," the program of Government responsible for cleaning up toxic waste. She went on to become Director of the Center for health, environment and justice.

These are just some of the names of heroes, the men and women, who have helped build the environmental movement in Italy and worldwide. today, as an energy crisis and global warming affect the planet, the work that these men and women start is the Foundation on which future environmental action will be built. nothing could be more important for the human race. If you are looking for a name "green" child this earth day, you have to look beyond names humble pioneers of the movement. many parents name their children after heroes of one sort or another. but few will be significant as a name chosen by this particular group. As Superman and superdonna, these heroes really helped to "save the planet".
